Southwest Michigan in Bloom

As winter fades and the shoreline begins to bloom, southwest Michigan transforms into a peaceful spring retreat. March and April bring fresh lake breezes, vineyard awakenings, and charming downtown celebrations that make this season one of the most refreshing times to visit. Lake Michigan is one of our favorite Spring destinations.

St. Patrick’s Day Along the Lakeshore

Spring kicks off with festive St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in lakeside towns like St. Joseph and South Haven. Local pubs and restaurants serve classic Irish fare, live music fills downtown streets, and the community gathers to celebrate the season together.

Friday, March 13th 6:30 PM - 11:00 PM

One of southwest Michigan’s most anticipated spring celebrations returns with the 10th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party at Watermark Brewing Company. This lively +21 lakeshore event brings together great music, festive drinks, and a welcoming community atmosphere, making it the perfect reason to plan a March getaway.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend with a spirited afternoon in downtown Benton Harbor during the annual St. Paddy’s Pub Crawl hosted by North Pier Brewing Company. This festive event invites guests to explore participating local bars and breweries while enjoying craft beer, themed drinks, and plenty of Irish cheer. It is a fun and social way to experience the local craft beverage scene while connecting with the vibrant southwest Michigan community. Whether you are visiting for the weekend or planning a full spring escape, the pub crawl offers a lively addition to your lakeside getaway.

For a festive celebration the whole family can enjoy, head to downtown Coloma for the St. Patrick’s Evening Lighted Parade. This charming small-town event brings the community together with illuminated floats, creative displays, and a lively Irish spirit that lights up the night. Following the parade, guests can enjoy a drone show presented by Starlight Aerial Productions, weather permitting, adding a magical touch to the evening.

Daytime festivities make it easy to turn the parade into a full day of fun. Visitors can explore a window display contest throughout downtown, browse a book sale at the Coloma Public Library, or take part in a scavenger hunt hosted by the North Berrien Historical Museum. Local restaurants join in the celebration with festive food and drinks, making it a true community-wide event.
